What Is Microneedling ?
Micro-Needling also known as collagen Induction therapy uses a pen sometimes called collagen pen that is covered with 12 ultra-fine needles that is used on the targeted areas to create small channels in the skin. As the device glides along the skin, these needles penetrate the upper layers of skin to a depth of up to 2 mm (depending on the needle length used) producing thousands of tiny micro-channels or tiny controlled wounds in the skin .
How does Micro needling or collagen pen work to benefit the skin?
The treatment introduces multiple fine needles to the skin to produce a “controlled injury” which forces the skin to react by thickening and producing more collagen and elastin. The dermis is then encouraged to generate new skin cells. The skin then becomes thicker, plumper and more youthful. These microscopic wounds, which begin to heal within a few hours, stimulate the skin’s healing process.
Is Microneedling painful?
Microneedle treatments can be anywhere from uncomfortable to slightly painful depending on the depth of the needles.
A topical numbing cream may be applied 10-15 minutes before the treatment which ensures patient comfort.
How Long Does it Take To See Results From Micro needling?
Typically, results are seen after the first treatment or about 48 to 72 hours after due to the spike in protein enzymes that produce collagen.
Lasting and more significant results will be visible after 3-6 treatments. Your skin will continue to improve of the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments. The new collagen will last for several years, which is why micro needling treatment is considered a very long lasting treatment.
